Release 13.0 – July 2025
Welcome to LearningBuilder 13.0! The headline for this release is the availability of Criteria-Added Activities, a feature that is sure to be a significant part of our 2025 product roadmap “highlight reel.”
Major Feature:
- Our new Criteria-Added Activities feature has been available to explore in the testing environment (UAT) since May. We are now officially releasing this feature! With Criteria-Added Activities, Learning Plans — a.k.a., Applications — can automatically “pull in” Activities that match defined criteria. Your practitioners enter their Activities once, and the system automatically counts them toward current and future application requirements. This feature has several exciting potential use cases:
- Multiple Certifications: LearningBuilder recognizes when an Activity submitted for a credential also satisfies criteria for another credential and automatically adds it to both credential applications. This can seriously streamline both initial certifications and maintenance of those certifications. Stay tuned for a more in-depth exploration of how LearningBuilder makes multiple certifications more attainable on the Heuristic Solutions blog.
- Professional Portfolios: LearningBuilder supports a single, comprehensive summary of all of a practitioner’s achievements, so that they don’t have to enter them more than once. As practitioners embark on their professional journey, LearningBuilder can automatically map relevant activities to corresponding application criteria. This eliminates the need to hunt through previous submissions for records and prevents data entry mistakes. You can read more about this functionality in our recent Feature Sales Sheet!
- This also applies to Pre-Certification Activities. Aspiring certificants can complete training and other Activities without having to start a certification process. When they do reach an inflection point and decide to pursue certification, we want what they’ve done to automatically count where criteria are met, so that they don’t feel burdened by having to go back and account for it all again. With Portfolios, individuals can add Activities to their professional portfolio as they go. When they reach an inflection point and decide they want to pursue a credential, any Activities in their portfolio that match the relevant criteria will automatically count toward their application requirements.
Configuration Improvements:
- Now, when someone starts an application, it’s possible to configure a Growl message alerting that user that their application has been pre-filled with Criteria-Added Activities. This ability both calls the user’s attention to and supports demonstrations of the Criteria-Added Activities functionality.
- To validate that the inclusion process is working as expected, program administrators can also manually trigger a Criteria-Added Activities sync and view the sync process status across a practitioner’s associated applications.
Usability Improvements:
- At the beginning of this year, we made some improvements to our Merge Accounts feature, which allows program administrators to combine two user accounts — meaning both of applications, activities, communications, and more — into a single record. In this release, we’ve continued those improvements. The Merge Accounts feature now works uniformly on all supported browsers and allows merging Assigned Activities, Shared Activities, Member Owned Competencies, Activity Definitions, Activity Offerings, Member and Member Role attributes, and Default Active Accounts. This means that the feature can handle even more use cases, including but not limited to:
- Members who have been assigned an Activity;
- Members who have an activity shared on multiple Learning Plan Instances;
- Members who have created a Learning Object (like a Custom Competency Area); and
- Members who are a contact on an Activity Definition.
Bug Fixes
