LearningBuilder 13.4: Release Notes

by | LearningBuilder Release Notes, Product Features and Releases

Release 13.4 – February 2026

LearningBuilder version 13.4 includes updates that offer admins more clarity and confidence to make their own changes in the system, and further flexibility and options for configuring Rules and Workflows.

Configuration Improvements

  • Test Comparison Rules before they go live. Administrators can now test Comparison Rules and Rule Sets before saving them. A new preview tool lets you enter sample values (like specific dates and times) and see how a Rule will behave before it affects any real data. This is especially helpful for date-based logic, where a small difference in configuration can have meaningful downstream effects.
  • More flexibility when setting dates on records. For certain Behaviors, admins can now configure a date to be set relative to another date, with options for positive or negative offsets of days, months, or years. For example, a date could be set to “30 days after the application submission date.” By using a specific test date, Administrators can also validate their setup before deploying. The relevant Behaviors include:
    • Update Workflow Instance Attribute
    • Update Member Role Attribute
    • Update Member Role Attribute For Learning Plan
    • Update Member Role Attribute For Activity Instance
    • Update Learning Plan Instance Dates
  • Preview Learning Plan date configurations in real time. We’ve made it easier to confirm that interval-based date logic is set up correctly before it goes into use. When configuring key dates on a Learning Plan, such as cycle or reporting start and end dates, administrators can now see a live preview of how those dates will calculate based on a given starting point.
  • Control what’s visible on a Workflow Step based on Role and Assignee. Some Workflow Steps may have multiple sections (or tabs). The visibility of Workflow Step sections and Actions can now be granted to certain Roles and not others, so that each end user will only see what’s relevant to them.

Usability Improvements

  • Updates to language within configuration tools. In this release, we’ve clarified restriction rules on Workflows. The setting previously labeled “Restrict access to users with any of these Roles” in the Workflow configuration interface has been renamed to “Limit access to users with any of these Roles.” It’s a small change that better reflects what the setting affects.Additionally, the Edit Question pop-up for Assessments previously had a “Preview” button and a “Save” button in addition to a “Cancel” button. However, “Preview” actually saved the question first, so a user couldn’t cancel after clicking it. With this release, we’ve changed the labels of the “Preview” and “Save” buttons to “Save and Preview” (blue) and “Save and Close” (orange) to better reflect their function and effect.
  • No more character limits on System Template descriptions. The description field for System Templates, which many administrators use to document template logic, was previously limited to 500 characters. That limit has been removed, so there’s room for as much context as needed.
  • Simplified Member Account pages. The “Staff” tab has been removed from Person-type Member Accounts, where it didn’t apply. This reduces confusion when navigating member records.

Reporting Improvements

  • Easier file audits and document tracking. Another new reporting view offers a complete list of all files stored in the system’s document library, along with information about which member they belong to and any Workflow Instances that reference them.
