Recertification audits: Whose headache are they? Your practitioners, your staff…or both?
Audits can be a way to ensure compliance with your program rules and standards while avoiding the need to review every recertification application. But the choice of how to structure your audit process can also be a bit of a juggling act:
Require “everything ahead of time,” and practitioners may find it to be a roadblock to recertification. You might find this detrimental to your recertification rates.
Collect “everything just in time,” i.e., upon audit, and you may find that your practitioners don’t have the required supporting information. You may find this detrimental to your compliance goals.
