At Heuristics, our 15 years in credential program software development give us a unique understanding of the credential ecosystem. Our LearningBuilder credential management software is designed to streamline and optimize that ecosystem.
We’ve learned that when candidate data touches as few different hands as possible between the source of truth and its destination, it streamlines work in the system. We’re constantly working to make application processing faster and more accurate for your practitioners and program staff.
Two recent LearningBuilder features amplify this experience: When the Learning Hub works with our new Professional Portfolios feature, system participants can securely transfer eligibility and professional development activities in bulk and apply them to all relevant applications, now and in the future.
The Learning Hub: Data Exchange That Does More
First, let’s re-introduce our Learning Hub: a centralized, cloud-based database for the information shared between LearningBuilder and other systems. As an intermediary for system-to-system API calls, the Learning Hub provides both additional security and production system performance management. Whether you need to send or receive data, LearningBuilder can act as both a publisher (putting data in) and a subscriber (pulling data out).
A configurable System Template ensures that when a third-party system adds data to the Learning Hub, LearningBuilder can pull that data directly into applications and automatically count it toward candidate requirements. Application processes move forward without the need for additional actions by program staff or practitioners.

Professional Portfolios: Accelerated Professional Advancement
LearningBuilder’s Professional Portfolios feature, a new kind of open-ended Learning Plan, was developed and launched this year. Professional Portfolios are centralized, comprehensive summaries of each practitioner’s achievements over time. As someone adds Activities (like CE, work history, supervised practice hours, etc.) to the system, their current and future applications will automatically count those that match predefined criteria (like date ranges or domains) toward any current or future application’s requirements. That applies to both initial certification and beyond to recertification and renewal.

Portfolios Plus the Learning Hub: Activity Updates, En Masse!
Now, imagine that the “someone” adding activities to the portfolio is not the practitioner themselves, but an education provider or member association, via an integration and the Learning Hub. Now, a practitioner doesn’t even have to enter their activities into the system; the data import does it for them. As they meet application requirements, their applications auto-populate, removing both the guesswork and the grunt work from pursuing current and future credentials, even multiple credentials (and their maintenance)!
Whether they’ve completed a degree that will fulfill requirements in perpetuity, or a training that only meets certain requirement criteria in certain cases, they don’t have to think about the activity again. They can go forth and focus on their professional growth.
